Fractional CTO
You have engineers but no one setting direction. Or a board asking questions your team can't answer. A fractional CTO gives you the judgment without the comp package — and a clear path to replacing us with a full-time hire.

What you get
For companies that need someone accountable for technology strategy, hiring, and vendor decisions — but not a full-time executive salary yet.
01Strategy tied to the business plan
A 12-month technical roadmap sequenced against your revenue and funding milestones — not a wish list of refactors.
02Team design and hiring
Org structure, role definitions, scorecards, and interview loops. We sit in on final rounds and calibrate your bar.
03Vendor and build-vs-buy calls
Evaluations with real criteria and reference checks. Most companies build too much of what they should buy, and buy the one thing that was their differentiator.
04Delivery discipline
Planning cadence, estimation that isn't fiction, and status your CEO can read without translation.
05A succession plan
The goal is to make ourselves unnecessary. We define the full-time role, help you hire it, and hand over cleanly.
Shapes this usually takes
Most engagements take one of these three shapes. Which one fits depends on how well-defined the problem already is — tell us the situation and we'll say which, and what it would take.
Advisory
Two days a month. Strategy, architecture review, and on-call for the hard decisions.

One to two days a week. Team leadership, roadmap ownership, hiring, and board support.

Buy-side or sell-side assessment of a codebase, team, and technical risk profile.

Boring where boring works, current where it matters. We pick for what your team can maintain after we leave — not for what looks good in a case study.

Common questions
How is this different from an advisor?
Accountability. An advisor gives opinions in a monthly call. A fractional CTO owns outcomes, runs the team, and their name is on the roadmap.
What's the minimum commitment?
Three months. Less than that and we'd be forming opinions right as the engagement ends.
Will you conflict with our existing engineering lead?
We'd rather amplify them. In many engagements the real job is coaching a strong senior engineer into the leadership role, and then getting out of the way.
Is fractional cto the right move for you?
Send us the situation. We’ll come back with a read on whether this is the right service, a rough range, and what we’d want to learn first.
